How to increase max file upload size in wordpress ?

If you are running a website then you might have encountered a problem, where wordpress does not allow you to upload file because wordpress had set a limit to the file size for upload. But you can still increase max file upload size in wordpress so that you can easily upload larger files.

How to increase max file upload size in wordpress

Here are the three best ways to do this-

Using htaccess file.

Using plugin.

Using php ini file.

Let’s see in detail how to use these methods-

Solution 1: Using htaccess file

To change the upload size you should paste the code given below to htaccess file. You can paste this code at the bottom of the htaccess file. You can change the values that you want to keep. Here the default value is 64 MB. But if you want to increase the upload size to 1 GB then change the values to 1024 MB. Simple.

php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 64M
php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 300

Solution 2: Using plugin

You can also use plugins to increase max file upload size in wordpress. Use Increase Max Upload File size

to increase the upload size. But the main drawback is that you can increase the upload size to 250 MB only.

Solution 3: Using php.ini

Find the php.ini file in the cpanel. If the file is present there then paste the below code and set the desired values. If the file is not present then create the file and rename it to php.ini and paste the code given below and set the desired values.

upload_max_filesize = 15M
post_max_size = 18M
memory_limit = 20M
